He felt a bit melancholic. In the last month, he had the chance to meet a handful of new people, people whom in other circumstances he would have never met. He enjoyed observing their evolution and the way they learned to interact with each other, the connections that they made. He was thinking that maybe the sensation of discomfort he felt was because this was the first course of Speed Reading with a group of people that he gathered and that he finished. From now on, things will probably get stabilised for him, remaining in sight the constant motivation for gathering enough people for the next course. These first ones created a strong bond, based on the novelty of the activity in which they were constantly involved in, as well as due to the unknown before them. Now, at the end, they were proud of their results, they remembered some funny moments that they had and they obviously felt comfortable around each other. It was a strange feeling for the psychologist to acknowledge that probably this was the last time he saw them. The Speed Reading course came to an end and he was more and more satisfied with the results he got from the first group of students. Everyone improved. Some more, some less. But it was extremely important for him to know that each of them managed to train their eye muscles and the capacity of processing the read information well enough in order to improve their reading speed and memorising capacity. He chose not to tell the results in front of the whole group, but to tell them individually. Then, everyone could choose to share it with the group or not. This would also reveal some of their characteristics as well. He looked at the French girl, who he saw as more mature than at the first course, maybe because of the clothes she wore, meaning an elegant dress and high heeled shoes. She had her hair done, curled and had professional makeup. It was a shock for everyone else as well, to see her like this, because she always wore boots, ripped jeans and a loose shirt. Her hair was usually coloured in many different colours. He couldn’t remember seeing her with the same hair colour at two different classes.

She was one of the people who had the best progress among all the students. At the initial test, she read 400 words per minute and with a memory capacity of 80 percent. At the final test, her speed got to 700 words per minute, with a memory capacity of 90 percent. The psychologist decided to talk to her, to ask her if she would like to continue the course for one more month. He wished that she passes the reading speed of 900 words per minute. At this speed, the brain doesn’t send anymore information towards the vocal chords, so it can concentrate all its energy to the eye muscles, helping these focalise at higher speeds. It was like lifting a weight from a runner, allowing it to break its records. He was happy when he got a positive answer from the girl. She was also curious about her limits and if the organism is truly capable to overcome its limits, constantly improving itself with training. Until now it functioned perfectly for her. She was about to see whether she can improve her results or she would stabilise around 700 words per minute. The psychologist warned her about this possibility, meaning that she might stick around 700 words per minute. It was something normal. The eye muscles must adapt, must get used to focalise at that speed and only after that, after they feel comfortable at 700 words per minute, will they be able to improve at superior speeds. Even like this, the French girl was very delighted by the idea, both of them agreeing on the fact that she should join the next group.

Andrew approached him, thanking him for the interesting experience he had, but also for the help he offered him outside the course. The psychologist waved his hand as a sign, that this is his job and he is very happy when he can do good and help someone. People should do this all the time. They should help each other. Andrew told him that the pile of manuscripts on his desk got smaller and smaller and that he felt an obvious evolution in his reading speed. Now he could treat himself with more pages of the manuscripts he got, especially the ones he found interesting. He also told him that he was about to get the custody of his son, managing to bring proof against his ex-wife’s capability of being a responsible mother. The psychologist tapped him on the shoulder and they drank a glass of champagne in the honour of these extraordinary news. However, Andrew was still confused regarding his capacity of reading word groups. With a smile on his face, the psychologist told him not to worry about this, because with continuous training he will learn to read word groups too. He felt the need to repeat that everyone reads intermittently and it is hard at the beginning to start reading groups of words. But because the trainings he had along the last month had texts where the cursor highlighted groups of seven words, it was very possible that Andrew could read at least two adjoined words, without him even noticing. If the word group has words that are similar in meaning and have a clear meaning, it is possible to read even more at once. He also mentioned that he shouldn’t stop reading after the trainings are over, but continue reading, which wasn’t a problem for Andrew, this being a part of his job.

Then he approached the elegant couple, who seemed to be enjoying each other’s company. They kept laughing, standing very close to each other. He got closer to them, thus hearing without intending, part of their conversation. They laughed about the time they made the bet about going out in the city. He had to demonstrate the woman that he was going to read with a speed above 1000 words per minute, in order for her to go out with him in the city. The psychologist interrupted their discussion, announcing the man that sadly, he lost the bet. He didn’t pass the speed of 1000 words per minute, so he didn’t have the chance to show the lady the city from his perspective. They both smiled and the woman chose to announce that they already went out on that day when they made the bet. She also mentioned that it was a truly unique date, the man took her in his private plane to have dinner on top of the Burj Khalifa. The psychologist’s surprised exclamation was real, thinking from the beginning that the man was rich, but not this rich. Being curious, he asked him what was his job and why did he choose to attend his course. Getting serious, he told the psychologist that he leads a multinational company with thousands of employees. A big part of them had a job that needed a lot of attention and reading speed. He discovered in time that it was more and more difficult for him to find the right people for this job. When he heard about Speed Reading, he told himself that it’s worth a try, considering this from more points of view. One of these reasons was that the lady next to him also enrolled, moment when the psychologist realised that they already knew each other before. She giggled and smiled hearing these affirmations. The psychologist was ready to propose him to bring his employees to the Speed Reading courses, but the entrepreneur was ahead of him, saying that the other reason was to bring his employees here. The lady’s time came to explain the mystery of her existence there. She was the Creation Director at the man’s company, it was also her who told him about the Speed Reading course. Both of them progressed a lot during the trainings, which determined the entrepreneur to assure him that soon he will organize courses for all of his employees.

He was looking for the boy with sclerosis, but he couldn’t find him. He improved his reading speed, but not substantially, reason why he wanted to talk to him for a few minutes. He wanted to tell him to continue the trainings, because his condition slowed down his ascension. He was sure that he would agree with his proposal, but he couldn’t find him. His phone vibrated in his pocket, signalling him that he got a message. It was from the boy with sclerosis, who was excusing himself for not being able to make it, but he had a crisis and he is at the hospital. He decided to visit him as soon as he finished with the final gathering. He liked the boy’s perseverance and the strength he had inside of him. He was a man who was fighting each second against his disease which he had to bear. Getting the sick boy out of his mind for the moment, the psychologist realised that Speed Reading truly had an effect on people, thus not being an unexplored domain of psychology. But in these moments, the psychologist started to feel that until now he only scratched the surface of Speed Reading. About increasing the reading speed there were many more aspect to be discovered, the majority having to do with the way it influences the life of an adult or a child. A child should learn from an early age not to read word by word, but to read groups of words. This would allow them to exponentially increase their reading speed along the time, in direct correlation to increasing the memory and attention capacity. Moreover, increasing the focalisation speed is useful not only in case of reading, but in our daily lives as well, even when reading traffic signs quickly, or understanding the message on publicity panes. Essentially, Speed Reading managed to slow down time, hurrying up the understanding of the surrounding elements.

The psychologist was delighted by the group that just finished the course, their evolution and the relationships that formed there. He asked each of them to say something regarding how they feel about this Speed Reading course. All of those who were present had only positive things to say about it. This offered the psychologist a big dose of confidence reading the future. He felt like an artist, who on the scene was using the public’s claps to charge up with the necessary energy. He was feeling the same way now, he was enjoying every moment and every word of appreciation that he got from those who participated at the Speed Reading course and who evolved thank to it. One of them even said he truly felt that it was a course which left an imprint on him, and he feels like he is leaving as a better, more capable person. The psychologist also wanted to thank all of them for trusting him and attending his course. He wished he lived up to everyone’s expectations and he was confident he didn’t let them down. Even for him, the results they achieved were surprising and he was going to analyse them in detail, to understand better the way the trainings and Speed Reading works on the human mind. Finally, he said goodbye, their ways parting after a month of getting to know and interact with each other.
